Our Story
There are certain moments in a small business when the distance
between where you started and where you are standing suddenly becomes
impossible to ignore.
For Bentley + Lace, one of those moments happened in Dallas.
What began as a creative vision centered around extraordinary gowns
grew slowly—one design, one client, one portrait session and one
shipment at a time.
Over the years, our gowns have traveled into photography studios,
family celebrations, weddings, birthdays, holiday portraits,
maternity sessions and milestone moments across the country.
Behind all of that beauty, however, has always been something much
less glamorous: the everyday work of building a small family
business.
The designing. The sewing. The fittings. The shipping labels.
The late nights. The ideas that worked beautifully and the ones
that had to be completely reimagined.
Then something extraordinary happened.
Lenovo and the Dallas Cowboys partnered through the Evolve Small
program to recognize and support local small businesses.
More than 1,900 applications were received.
Bentley + Lace was ultimately selected as the 2025 Evolve Small
winner.
Seeing our small business recognized on that kind of stage was
difficult to put into words.
Behind the Recognition
A small business behind some very big gowns.
Bentley + Lace is known for dramatic silhouettes, unexpected fabrics,
layers of tulle and designs created to become part of an unforgettable
photograph.
But the real story has always existed behind the gowns.
Bentley + Lace grew as a family-owned business. Creativity and everyday
life have always existed side by side—design work mixed with school
schedules, packaging orders, sourcing fabrics, helping customers,
managing rentals and figuring out what comes next.
There was no moment when the business suddenly became easy.
It simply kept becoming more meaningful.
That is part of what made this recognition so special.
The People Behind It
This was never a one-person story.
There is a person behind every small-business order.
There are also people behind the person.
Family members who help when the workload becomes impossible.
Customers who return. Photographers who tag the designer instead
of simply posting the photograph. Mothers who tell another mom
where the gown came from. Clients who trust a small business before
it has the resources of a large one.
Those things matter.
Every photograph shared, every rental reserved, every custom gown
commissioned and every kind recommendation became another small
part of this story.
So yes, they called our name.
But when we look at that moment, we see far more than Bentley + Lace.
We see the photographers who have created extraordinary artwork with
our gowns. We see the mothers who have trusted us with birthdays,
weddings and milestones. We see the children who have twirled in
something that began as an idea on our worktable.
We see every person who decided that supporting a small business
was worth it.
And we are incredibly grateful.
