Rental Agreement & Terms

Bentley + Lace Couture Rentals

Thank you for choosing Bentley + Lace for your special occasion. Please read the following terms carefully before completing your rental.

1. Rental Overview

Welcome to Bentley + Lace, where couture meets convenience. We are honored to provide you with exquisite, handcrafted gowns and boys' attire for your most treasured moments. Each garment in our collection is meticulously designed and sewn with the finest specialty fabrics, ensuring an unforgettable experience of luxury and elegance.

By reserving a rental with Bentley + Lace, you enter into a binding agreement to care for and return our garments in accordance with the terms outlined herein. Our rental service is designed to offer you access to high-end couture at an accessible price point, while maintaining the integrity and beauty of each piece for future clients.

Please note: Custom orders are closing at the end of 2025. Our sewing studio will resume operations in mid-February 2026. We appreciate your understanding and planning accordingly.

2. Rental Period & Late Fees

Your rental period is 5 days unless otherwise specified in your rental confirmation. This period begins on the date you receive your garment and ends on the date it must be postmarked for return.

Rental Timeline:

  • Day 1: Garment arrives at your location
  • Days 2-4: Your event and usage period
  • Day 5: Garment must be postmarked for return via provided prepaid shipping label

Late Return Policy:

Late returns disrupt our rental schedule and prevent other clients from enjoying our gowns. A late fee of $50 per day will be charged for each day beyond your rental period. After 7 days past your return date, the full replacement value of the garment will be charged to your payment method on file.

If you require an extended rental period, please contact us at least 48 hours before your return date. Extensions are subject to availability and additional fees.

3. Shipping, Delivery, and Return Obligations

Bentley + Lace ships nationwide from our Texas studio. We take great care in packaging your garment to ensure it arrives in pristine condition.

Outbound Shipping:

  • All rentals are shipped via insured carrier with tracking
  • You will receive tracking information via email once your order ships
  • Delivery times vary by location; please plan accordingly
  • You are responsible for ensuring someone is available to receive the package
  • Bentley + Lace is not liable for delays caused by shipping carriers or weather conditions

Return Shipping Requirements:

  • A prepaid return shipping label is included inside your rental package
  • All garments must be returned using the original protective bag, tissue, and packaging materials provided
  • Your return must be postmarked by Day 7 of your rental period
  • Day 1 = the day your rental arrives
  • You have 5 full usage days, and on Day 7 the box must be dropped off before the final FedEx pickup of that day. This is extremely important to avoid late fees
  • If you misplace your return label, please email info@bentleyandlace.com and we will issue a new one via email
  • You are responsible for obtaining and retaining proof of shipment drop-off (FedEx receipt or timestamped acceptance scan)

Important: Bentley + Lace is not responsible for lost or stolen packages after they have been shipped. Please ensure your garment is returned promptly and with tracking confirmation.

4. Garment Care Requirements

Our gowns and attire are crafted from delicate, specialty fabrics including silk, tulle, lace, organza, and embellished materials. Proper care is essential to preserve their beauty.

Care Instructions:

  • Do not attempt to clean or wash the garment yourself
  • Hang garments immediately upon unpacking to minimize wrinkles
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Avoid contact with makeup, perfume, lotions, oils, and hair products
  • Do not eat or drink while wearing the garment
  • Handle with clean, dry hands
  • Keep away from sharp objects, jewelry, and rough surfaces
  • Avoid sitting on rough or dirty surfaces

Professional Cleaning: All garments are professionally cleaned by Bentley + Lace after each rental. Do not have the garment cleaned before returning it. Any unauthorized cleaning may result in damage charges.

5. Damage, Stains, and Lost Items Policy

We understand that minor wear may occur during normal use. However, you are financially responsible for any damage, stains, or loss beyond normal wear and tear.

Normal Wear vs. Damage:

Normal wear includes:

  • Light wrinkles from wearing
  • Minor dust or dirt that can be professionally cleaned
  • Slight stretching from normal movement

Damage includes (but is not limited to):

  • Tears, rips, holes, or pulled seams
  • Stains from food, beverages, makeup, or bodily fluids
  • Burns, melted fabric, or heat damage
  • Missing buttons, beads, sequins, or embellishments
  • Alterations or modifications of any kind
  • Pet hair, odors, or damage from animals
  • Smoke odor or exposure to harsh chemicals

Damage Fees:

Damage fees range from $25 to the full replacement value of the garment, depending on the severity and repairability of the damage. In the event of total loss, theft, or irreparable damage, you will be charged the full retail replacement value, which may range from $500 to $3,000+ depending on the garment.

Lost or Stolen Garments: If a garment is lost or stolen during your rental period, you must file a police report and provide a copy to Bentley + Lace. You will be charged the full replacement value of the garment.

6. Sizing, Fit, and Style Expectations

Bentley + Lace provides detailed size charts and measurement guides to help you select the best fit. However, due to the nature of couture garments and varying body types, we cannot guarantee a perfect fit.

Sizing Guidelines:

  • Please refer to our size chart and measure carefully before ordering
  • If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up
  • Colors may vary slightly from photos due to screen settings and lighting
  • Fabric drape and fit may differ based on body shape and movement

No Refunds for Fit: Rentals are non-refundable if the garment does not fit as expected, provided measurements were taken accurately and the correct size was ordered. We encourage you to contact us with questions before finalizing your order.

Alterations: You may not alter, modify, or have any alterations performed on Bentley + Lace garments. Any unauthorized alterations will result in charges for the full replacement value of the garment.

7. Weather & Activity Restrictions

Our gowns are designed for indoor or covered outdoor events. Exposure to certain weather conditions and activities may cause irreparable damage.

Prohibited Conditions & Activities:

  • Rain, snow, or wet conditions: Do not wear garments in rain, snow, or near water features
  • Extreme heat or cold: Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Beach or outdoor terrain: Do not wear on sand, grass, gravel, or uneven surfaces
  • High-activity events: Not suitable for dancing on rough surfaces, sports, or physical activities
  • Smoke or fire: Keep away from candles, fireworks, bonfires, and smoking areas

You are responsible for any damage caused by exposure to prohibited conditions. We recommend having a backup plan for outdoor events in case of inclement weather.

8. Social Media & Sharing Your Experience

We love seeing our gowns in action and would be honored if you would share your beautiful moments with us!

We kindly ask that you tag @bentleyandlacecouturegowns on Instagram and Bentley + Lace by Elizabeth Copeland on Facebook when posting photos of your special day. This helps us celebrate with you and connect with our wonderful community of clients.

Your photos inspire us and help other brides and clients envision themselves in our gowns. We would love to share in your joy and feature your stunning moments!

9. Reservation, Cancellations & Refunds

We understand that plans change. However, due to the nature of our rental business and the time-sensitive availability of our garments, our cancellation policy is as follows:

Cancellation Policy:

  • 30+ days before rental date: Full refund minus $50 processing fee
  • 15-29 days before rental date: 50% refund of rental fee
  • 14 days or less before rental date: No refund; rental fee is non-refundable
  • After garment has shipped: No refund; rental fee is non-refundable

Rescheduling: You may reschedule your rental date one time without penalty, subject to availability, if requested at least 14 days before your original rental date.

10. Liability Release & Assumption of Risk

By renting from Bentley + Lace, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • You assume all risk of loss, damage, or injury arising from your use of the garment
  • Bentley + Lace is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or damages that occur while wearing our garments
  • You are responsible for ensuring the garment is appropriate for your intended use and event conditions
  • Bentley + Lace is not liable for any consequential damages, including but not limited to missed events, travel expenses, or emotional distress
  • You release Bentley + Lace from any claims arising from fit, color variations, or style expectations

Medical Considerations: If you have allergies to certain fabrics or materials, please notify us before renting. We are not liable for allergic reactions or skin sensitivities.

11. Force Majeure Clause

Bentley + Lace shall not be held liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Acts of God (natural disasters, severe weather, floods, earthquakes)
  • Pandemics, epidemics, or public health emergencies
  • War, terrorism, civil unrest, or government actions
  • Shipping carrier delays, strikes, or transportation disruptions
  • Power outages, internet failures, or technology malfunctions
  • Supplier or vendor failures

In the event of a force majeure situation, Bentley + Lace will make reasonable efforts to fulfill your order or offer alternative solutions, including rescheduling or store credit. However, we are not obligated to provide refunds for circumstances beyond our control.

12. Indemnification & Hold Harmless Agreement

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Bentley + Lace, its owner Elizabeth Copeland, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • Your use or misuse of the rented garment
  • Your breach of this Rental Agreement
  • Your violation of any laws or regulations
  • Any damage to the garment caused by you or anyone in your party
  • Any injury or damage to third parties caused by your use of the garment
  • Any unauthorized alterations, cleaning, or modifications to the garment

This indemnification obligation shall survive the termination of this Agreement and the return of the garment.

13. Payment Authorization & Fees

By completing your rental reservation, you authorize Bentley + Lace to charge your payment method on file for:

  • The rental fee and any applicable taxes
  • Security deposit (if applicable)
  • Late fees for returns postmarked after the due date
  • Damage fees for stains, tears, or other damage beyond normal wear
  • Replacement fees for lost, stolen, or irreparably damaged garments
  • Cleaning fees for unauthorized cleaning attempts
  • Any other fees outlined in this Agreement

Payment Methods: We accept major credit cards and PayPal. Payment is due in full at the time of booking unless otherwise arranged.

Security Deposits: Some high-value garments may require a refundable security deposit. Deposits are held on your card and released within 7-10 business days after the garment is returned and inspected, provided there is no damage.

14. Agreement to Terms

This Rental Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and Bentley + Lace regarding your rental. By completing your reservation, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all terms and conditions set forth herein.

Governing Law: This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Severability: If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable or invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Modifications: Bentley + Lace reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on our website and apply to all future rentals.
