These charts show the Bentley + Lace measurements used as base pattern references. They are here first for anyone who simply needs the numbers — then the guide below explains what those numbers mean for rentals versus made-to-order couture.

It is normal for chest, waist, hips and length to align with different base sizes.
This is the most important distinction on this page. A made-to-order gown can be adjusted from body measurements. A rental already exists, so you shop the finished garment and its real usable fit.

You may see “Fits 5Y–7Y” because that finished gown can accommodate measurements across that broader range.
Use a soft sewing tape and take true body measurements over close-fitting clothing or undergarments. Keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling tight, and do not add extra inches yourself.

Not automatically. Everyday clothing sizes vary between brands. Measure the wearer first. For a rental, compare those measurements with the exact finished-garment measurements and fit notes on that specific listing.
That is normal. Bodies do not always match one graded size row. For made-to-order couture, submit the true measurements requested. For rentals, choose based on the finished gown's measurements, length and adjustable fit features.
That label describes the usable fit range of the finished rental. We may intentionally combine proportions from multiple base pattern sizes and use adjustable features such as elastic, ties or corset-style construction so one rental can accommodate a broader range.
Yes. Our chart is a base pattern reference, but made-to-order couture can use the wearer's current measurements. Do not change the measurements to make them fit one chart row.
No. Give us the true current body measurements unless our team specifically asks for something different. Garment ease, adjustability and construction are handled separately.
Chest or bust and waist are usually the first measurements to compare, followed closely by the relevant length measurement. The most important measurement can vary by silhouette, so always review the individual rental listing.
